<![CDATA[Smitten With Kittens Tallahassee - Foster Blog]]>Mon, 29 Apr 2024 15:31:35 -0400Weebly<![CDATA[Good Luck Perry and Toby:)]]>Sun, 17 Nov 2013 00:32:02 GMThttps://smittenwithkittens.net/foster-blog/good-luck-perry-and-tobyYesterday I dropped off Toby and Perry so they could hopefully find their forever home and be loved and cared for right. Last night was a bit odd I didn't have Toby curled up behind me on the couch by my head and didn't have Perry dropping by after she got her toy stuck or in a place she couldn't get to it so I'd get up and go get it out of the trap she some how created for it. I am going to miss them it's really hard to foster and not get attached to these living breathing beings that have their own personalities. I got attached and as hard as it was I know their is a family out there that will love them and care for them as much as I did. I am happy that I got the chance to be apart of their story. When they first came they were so shy and so scared. Dropping them off they were a bit confused and scared but in no time they warmed up to the environment. So I know I did my part in their life and gave them the security they needed to adapt to whatever lays ahead for them. I'll never forget them and I can't wait to hear that they were able to find a forever home to grow up in and be loved. So Good Luck Perry and Toby as much as you'll be missed I know you'll be happy with the family that gains such loving kittens to add to their family or families:)

<![CDATA[Mirrors.. ]]>Sat, 26 Oct 2013 04:06:31 GMThttps://smittenwithkittens.net/foster-blog/mirrorsI was holding Perry and Toby and we walked past a mirror. Toby seemed to notice something and got excited. So I decided to turn around and noticed that he had seen his reflection. I went into my moms room where there is a mirror that is long and to the ground to see what they'd do. It was so adorable at first they tried to play with the kittens in the mirror then they got tired of playing with the mirror kittens and started to wrestle one another. They are so friendly even my youngest brother (11) who can be very hyper and at first kind of scared them a little cause of his sudden movements. Doesn't bother them at all anymore. They've been subjected to so much here at the house and I think that's helped them so much with their social behavior. Hope to have even more good news tomorrow! Good Night:)

<![CDATA[Ears..]]>Sat, 26 Oct 2013 03:47:31 GMThttps://smittenwithkittens.net/foster-blog/earsWhile holding and petting the kittens today I noticed they had some dirty ears.. ewww.. I got some baby wipes and some cotton balls and took Perry (Since I thought Perry would be the one less impressed with this procedure do the hardest first and easiest second was what was in my mind) and sat her in my lap, made sure she had a chance to feel and play with the wipey a little bit. She did enjoy that a lot. Then took the wipe and pulled her ear back a little and began to wipe out all the stuff I could and surprisingly she loved it! She laid her head on my leg and purred and stayed so still I was amazed! Once I finished both her ears I got Toby and crossed my fingers he'd be just as easy. His ears were a ton worse! So did the same thing with him let him play with the wipey a little bit then pulled his ear back and started to wipe out the goop. He was just as amazing as she was! He took a little longer to get them clean then she did but now they both have goop free ears! Toby has found him a spot on the couch right next to me I worry he's going to be smushed but he loves it right there. And Perry has decided she likes it on back of the couch usually behind my brothers or sister so she can play with their hair. Toby loves when you rub your finger up the bridge of his nose it puts him to sleep in no time at all! Once Perry gets her energy out she'll come lay right next to Toby and curl up in a ball on my lap and sleep she doesn't like to be smushed like he does. He's a big time cuddle bug! That's all for today! Good Night Everyone

<![CDATA[Greetings:)]]>Fri, 25 Oct 2013 03:18:11 GMThttps://smittenwithkittens.net/foster-blog/greetingsNot only do they greet me they are beginning to greet other people now! With Perry being as playful as she is she is also so very gentle. When I am petting her there are times she rolls over on her back and bats at my hand but she don't use her claws when playing with me. Then you rub her tummy and she wiggles all over the place it's adorable! Toby usually watches her like she's crazy hehe. I will pet him behind the ears and under the chin and he just loves it but unlike Perry he doesn't like under the tummy so much. Toby loves to lick my hand he'll smash his face into the palm of one of my hands while I am petting him with the other and I'll rub behind his ears and he just loves it so much once I stop he licks my hand if I start again he'll smash his face up against the palm of my hand again. Good Night! Talk to you all tomorrow!

<![CDATA[Independence]]>Thu, 24 Oct 2013 03:15:29 GMThttps://smittenwithkittens.net/foster-blog/independenceIt's crazy to think that when we first got them Perry followed Toby around everywhere. And how shy they were. Now, neither really follow each other they just do their own thing. However, as I said last night Perry tends to like to do whatever her brother is doing and she usually will find a way to take it from him if it's a toy, or push him out of the way if he's getting petted. She can be a hog for attention and toys. They've decided they love my phone now so when I go to take pictures they photo bomb one another hehe. They also sometimes try to help me take the pictures! Perry now carry's the blue ball with her where ever she goes when we are playing and I usually find her snuggled up in a ball sleeping with it as well. Toby is still OCD when it comes to the litter box when Perry gets in and out. Toby jumps in right after to fix whatever she's done that he don't like. I've started to hide their toys from them in little spots here and there instead of laying them out for them to play with when I go to school. I still place treats around hidden as well. But found when I hide their toys they usually have most if not all out and about when I do get back from school. Both their favorite toys seem to be something that's not a toy at all, but shoes! They love it when I take my shoe off and lay them on the side so they can play with the shoe strings. They are going to make someone very lucky to have them when they go into their forever home they are so lovable!

More to come tomorrow!:) Good Night everyone!:)

<![CDATA[Go with the Flow vs Playful]]>Wed, 23 Oct 2013 03:10:29 GMThttps://smittenwithkittens.net/foster-blog/october-23rd-2013Yesterday I said a little about them having such Night and Day personalities, They are definitely nothing alike other then the cuteness factor of course! Perry is much more rambunctious and curious then Toby is. Toby is very laid back and a go with the flow type boy. He will be eating and Perry will be hitting his tail and jumping on his back to play. Toby don't seem to even notice her hehe he just continues to eat until he's done then he finishes up and starts to pounce on her and play with her tail. Perry will cuddle and lay with you as long as there is absolutely nothing else going on if she hears a noise or gets a glimpse of anything moving she's gone has to investigate and she's total ADHD hehe she'll start one direction and if something else gets her attention she'll forget about what she was doing and go after the thing that just got her attention. She also loves hair! I have shoulder length hair and if I am sitting on the floor leaning back on my bed. Perry will come behind me and use her paws to move my hair, and she'll try to eat my hair and play with it for a long time lol. My mom has longer hair and oh boy Perry LOVES that! Then you've got Toby again he's more go with the flow he's easily entertained but very much focused on whatever he's doing in the moment. If he's playing with the ball he'll play with it until he's tired of that then move on to his next task. With Toby he's fine with you petting him and Perry. With Perry she don't like to share she enjoys all the attention. So if you are petting Toby she'll move where he is and push him out of the way so you'll pet her it's funny. That's all I have for today more tomorrow! Good Night.

<![CDATA[So Enjoyable!]]>Tue, 22 Oct 2013 03:05:31 GMThttps://smittenwithkittens.net/foster-blog/so-enjoyableThey have such night and day personalities. Toby is way more submissive then Perry. He bends to her every want and just goes on and does his own little thing. One thing we've used a little to get them to be ok with people and not as shy is their wet food. We will get spoons and instead of placing their wet food in the bowls for them to eat we put it on a spoon so they have to come to us and eat it while we pet them. When we first did that Perry didn't mind it being on the spoon but hated the fact that she was being petted while we fed her. Now however she will actually try and sit in your lap while the spoon and food is out they both do so great with it! And it's helped so much with them trusting and liking people. They love paper bags as well! I had a paper bag in my room from their toys I had in them. And they bounced and pounced and stalked that bag for a good hour, decided to put a treat inside it, and toys inside of the bag. It was so cute watching them play with the paper bag. Sorry updates haven't been very long and so late. I hope that I can update sooner and more soon. As of right now they are trying to help me type so I am going to give them some of my attention before they type more then I do hehe. Good Night Everyone!:)

<![CDATA[So Proud..]]>Mon, 21 Oct 2013 03:02:36 GMThttps://smittenwithkittens.net/foster-blog/so-proudI am so proud of these two kittens, they have come a long way. They actually greet me with kitten rubs and purrs now. If I sit down on my bed they come and rub against me and get in my lap and cuddle up. They are so adorable and whomever adopts these two are going to have some pretty amazing kittens. They are smart! We play hide and go seek with their treats. I've just recently started to hide treats around for them under toys, and under blankets in their kennel. And by the time I am home from school they've found them all. They are even doing great with my dog Leia they are still not real sure about her but they don't hiss or bat at her and when she lays down they even go to her and sniff and rub against her a little hehe. We are working on their independence more helping them be separated from one another which they don't seem to mind as long as someone is playing with the other. The other day it was just me at home and I brought Perry down to play with first by herself. Well Toby was not happy about being left alone. He was meowing and meowing so decided to play with him a bit then once he got play time I assumed he'd be less upset and more relaxed so I put Perry in my room and got Toby and was playing 1 on 1 with Toby. Perry didn't like that to much! She started to meow I felt so bad that I went ahead and put them back together and waited for my sister to come home so that they would both have someone to play with and not be lonely. I just see such a huge difference in both of them I am so glad that they are allowing my siblings and I to socialize them so that they could get a great home! Good Night:)

<![CDATA[Day by Day getting more social:)]]>Sun, 20 Oct 2013 02:15:53 GMThttps://smittenwithkittens.net/foster-blog/day-by-day-getting-more-socialHello Everyone!
My dad is leaving today for 9 days, so this will be a short update since things tend to be a little unorganized and chaotic when he leaves. But on to the kittens!:) They are doing wonderful! They love playing with string and any type of ball you can put in front of them they love it so much! They are being held very often and that has helped them so much with their shyness. Perry loves to tackle Toby and she also likes to steal the toys he's playing with. He then chases her then gets the toy back then she him it's fun to watch them play this game of tag. hehe More on them and their personalities tomorrow! Good Night Everyone:)

P.S- I am hoping that I'll have time before the end of the week to figure out what's going on with the pictures I am trying to post on here. I've just not had time to really look into it so I apologize I'll have them up soon I hope!

Thanks,

<![CDATA[A New Day:)]]>Sat, 19 Oct 2013 00:06:04 GMThttps://smittenwithkittens.net/foster-blog/a-new-day Today the kittens and my siblings (Anthony- my brother Adalyn- my sister and Kaden- my brother) have totally bonded with the two! I have to of course. But now instead of Perry and Zane. They are being called Perry and Tobuscus (Toby) for short my brother decided to rename him. They stayed up until a little after 11 last night playing with them. No aggression still some shyness of course but we are working towards ending that. We are still working on the kennel so they don't fear it. At first they didn't like their hard food as much as soft food so we started to inch back on the soft food so they would get used to the hard food. What we decided to do is give them 1/4th a can of soft food in the AM and 1/4th can in the evening. We didn't want them to become to spoiled with the soft food so we were able to get that under control real easy. My brothers and sister and I went and got some kitten toys for them and as much as they enjoy them they seem to enjoy tennis shoes the best! They attack the shoe strings it's really cute! We hold them as much as possible and they are starting to enjoy it. Definitely taking it one day at a time. One thing I know for sure is patients is the key to helping the kittens who are shy.

That's it for today's update hope to have more good news tomorrow!:)
